Mobile app design | NPR, Washington DC

The NPR app for the iPad features the best of NPR covering its three content pillars: News, Arts & Life, and Music. The design provides users with an intuitive way to browse NPR stories, taking advantage of the new affordances that come with the device. The app also features a persistent audio player, which allows the user to listen to a story or program while exploring the rest of the content. Read more about the app and the design process.

The NPR Music app is designed to deliver all the rich content from npr.org/music to the iPhone, with music coverage ranging from stories behind the music with artist interviews, original session recordings and news.View screens.

This redesign of the NPR Music site launched in late 2009 to great fanfare. The new structure follows the redesign of npr.org, incorporating new tools and new best practices, while giving Music their own distinct branding and personality. View screens.

A community-oriented site for Timberland's urban youth audience, this site features 5 artists representing the 5 boroughs of New York. Each artist is showcased with a five-minute film, a gallery of their work, and their own custom boot. Users were invited to submit their own art inspired by these artists, entering a contest to win the opportunity of designing their own boot. View the site.

Fidelity MyPlan
Branded online tool | Arnold Worldwide, Boston, MA
Fidelity's entry into the "life-planning" business takes the form of an online scrapbook. Customers make use of an interactive brainstorming tool. Then, they place goals on a timeline and plan activities ranging anywhere from learning a new language to putting their child through college. Fidelity takes this opportunity to suggest financial products that would help users achieve their goal. View screens.

Volvo Stories Per Mile Microsite

These sites for Volvo were the interactive component of the larger agency pitch for Volvo's business. The Stories Per Mile site is a community-driven road-trip finder, encouraging drivers to get out on the road in their Volvos. The Innovation Studio is a virtual museum, showcasing Volvos contributions to society, such as the 3-point safety belt. Both these concepts were well received, and Arnold won the Volvo account. Progressive Insurance Supercross

Holeshot Heaven was a site extending Progressive Insurance's sponsorship of Supercross motorcycle racing. The site featured video recaps, official race photos, interactive track maps, and fan blogs.
